GENERAL DATA PROTECTION REGULATION (GDPR)

Privacy is kept alive

Τhe General Data Protection Regulation or GDPR has been the primary law regulating how companies of any size or activity, protect EU citizens’ personal data. Despite all kind of reactions, the need for such law had been imperative, because GDPR covers all areas of our daily lives, through our daily and long-term internet browsing or through online shopping.

In Greece the Authority that governs the Data Protection is called the «Hellenic Data Protection Authority». It resides in Athens and is in charge of enforcing GDPR in Greece, the Greek Data Protection Act 2019, the ePrivacy Directive implementation law and other provisions regarding the protection of personal data.

It was first established in 1997 and its role as an independent guardian of the protection of personal data in Greece is constitutionally established in Article 9A of the Greek Constitution. Since then, major changes and improvements have been made in the context of the Law in European and national level. Most of the institutions, private or public companies have fully complied with the Act and its provisions. However, if you witness any deviation of the law our office shall advise you on the methods of defending and rights.
